This is the worst Ecology textbook I have come across. It was so bad I returned it. I don't return books. . .! This is more for elementary grades the basest points. The Lotka-Voltera model graphs were more complicated than need to be. Since I have purchased several ecology books. These are my recommendations The best Ecology book is by David Krohner and the second recommendation would by 'Elements of Ecology by Thomas & Robert Smith.

Great book I guess. It was required for my course and it sure was the right one.
Was for my son in college, and was exactly what was needed.
This book is the text for Biology 357 (Ecology) at my school. It has good, clear explanations of a wide variety of ecology-related topics, but the book does not have any real practice problems, which is a real downside to me. Your instructor has to give access to practice problems on the book's website, and my professor did not do that for my class.
Good book. Terrible packaging
I bought this text book for my ecology class. I love how its loose leaf since I can just take sections of it instead of lugging around a heavy textbook. The content of the text book is great, it provides lots of information and great visual aids to help students better understand the material.
I've seen the hardcover version of this textbook, and choosing between the two depends on what you're looking for. I find that the loose cover is cheaper to buy but harder to sell. If you plan to keep this text book and don't mind putting it in a three ring binder, I would go with the loose leaf. If you are rough with your text books and need something more sturdy, go with the hard cover version.
